Pilsen Zoo and Botanical Garden
Embark on a journey around the world at the Pilsen Zoological and Botanical Garden. Spanning more than twenty hectares, you’ll discover the animals and plants of each continent and get a glimpse into their natural habitats. The Pilsen Zoo is unique in that it combines a zoological and botanical garden into a single complex and is one of the city’s most important tourist destinations.
The Pilsen Zoo was founded in 1926 and has been operating at its current location in Lochotín since 1963. The exhibits are organized by zoogeographic regions, allowing visitors to gradually explore Africa, Asia, Europe, North and South America, and Australia. The animals are often kept in environments that mimic their natural habitats, and the exhibits are complemented by corresponding plant species. Popular attractions include the African and Asian exhibits, the Showa-en Japanese Garden, and the historic Lüftnerka farmstead. The zoo also features a separate Akva Tera exhibit in the center of Pilsen, and during the season, a visit can be combined with a trip to DinoPark.
